MISSIONS

Selmore Baptist Church exists to pray, give, go and disciple for the glory of God and the spread of the Gospel.  The carrying out of this task is what we commonly refer to as “missions.”

Pray: We pray for the salvation of those who do not know Jesus, both in our personal prayer life, and when we meet together for worship and Bible study. We intercede on behalf of specific missionaries serving around the world.  We pray for God to send laborers into His harvest.

Give: We give of our time, talents and treasure to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  As a church, we partner financially with Tri-County Baptist Association, the Missouri Baptist Convention, and the International Mission Board, which funds thousands of missionaries around the world. Additionally, we collect special offerings throughout the year for missions.

Go: We train our members to share the gospel wherever they go. We also have intentional times where we go out as a church family into our community to invite our neighbors to church and talk about Jesus. We strive to show the love of Jesus to our community and region by partnering in hands-on ways with local ministries. We send short-term mission teams nationally and internationally.

Disciple:  The task of missions is not complete until new believers are discipled in the ways of Jesus.  We accomplish this through Sunday morning small groups, midweek Bible study, and personal relationships.  When a new follower of Christ begins to pray, give, go and disciple others, the cycle is complete!
